I typically don’t like getting too involved with social media, but one thing I make sure to check daily are my Facebook memories. Looking at all my memories makes me more grateful for the experiences I’ve had and people I have met.
A few years ago, after I moved to NY from Indianapolis, I was introduced to a rap artist named HUMEN. One of my homies called and let me know he was looking for a saxophonist for one of his tracks so he put me in touch. Once we spoke about his concept of the album and vision for the song, I knew I was down to collab. Also being featuring on the song is the outstanding poet/rapper Rehema McNeil. At this point in my career I had never collaborated on a recording with a rapper or poet before but, when HUMEN sent over his music I was ready to play! I’m tellin y’all this man can really spit and his music is very meaningful. None of that mumble rappin, just real rap; live and direct.
Two years ago today the song we worked on, Queen of Queens, was released as a single for his album Grind x Pray. The entire album is dope and I encourage you all to check it out.
Y’all should also check out the Chreece hip hop music festival August 25th, 2018.
“All lanes of Indiana hip hop are coming together for a single day of “Cheers” and “Peace” – it’s CHREECE! This will be a day to remember and a cause worth celebrating. Included in the event will be 50+ emcees and collectives, DJs, producers, exclusive merchandise, and much more!”
HUMEN will be performing at Chreece along with special guests Rehema McNeil and Mula Kkhan. Check out some of his new music
